After a sold-out trial show in Coffs Harbour, comedian Kelly Mac is roaring to take the final product on the road.

First stops are Kempsey, Bowraville, and Alice Springs before hitting the Fringe Festival circuit.

“The feedback and support from the local crowd after that first show were incredible,” says Kel. “It kept me going for what came after.”

After a forgettable first half of the year marred by illness and weather (“I should have known when the dog died on New Year’s Eve”), the phone started ringing and hasn’t stopped.

“We’ve all been through it. One minute you’re reading up on ‘Six Ways with Frozen Peas’ and sandbagging the house, the next you’re flying to Port Douglas for a gig. It’s all material.”

Locals might remember Kel from the award-winning EJ and Kel Show on 2CSFM in Coffs (now Triple M). “I won the award. EJ helped,” Kel laughs.

She entered stand-up in 2020, producing in 2021, and the office of the cheapest therapist she could find in ’22.

“Truth is, I adored working with EJ, and I’m lucky enough to again be sharing the stage with some top support acts: Jesse Rabbit and Dave Human.”

With the kids full-grown and relapse a chardy away, Kel’s parenting advice is: “Keep it simple. Devon and white bread produce winners.”
