Bale Out!

this month sees nana glen get the bale out! with a day / evening celebration of the local community with live
music, great food, a lantern parade and fire twirling

With the catch-cry of “live large and local!”, Bale Out! is a series of grass-roots, pop-up events that’s been touring the more far-flung villages throughout the Coffs region since April. Local communities have been working alongside Coffs Harbour City Council’s Community Programs team to dig deep into their local village identities, individual passions and community aspirations to create unique celebrations brimming with authentic local flavour. Proudly supported by Coffs Harbour City Council and NSW Government, Bale Out! has brought the travelling festival vibe to 5 different localities around the greater Coffs area including Ulong, Coramba, Red Rock, Toormina, Nana Glen and will culminate in a big gathering of all Coffs communities at Bale Out! Family Fun Day at Harbourside Markets on Sunday the 20th of June.

Nana Glen Bale Out!

Saturday 5th June | 3.30pm – 7.30pm

The Nana Glen Bale Out! Winter Welcome Warmer is a family-friendly afternoon into evening event at the Nana Glen Equestrian Centre. It is a free
community fun day/night welcoming Orara Valley locals and community members from further afield to celebrate together with free pony rides, climbing tower, loads of art activities, hay play zone, slippery lizard chase for cool prizes, monster machinery display, along with awesome live music and lots of yummy food. After, the majestic lantern parade will enter the arena accompanied by dozens of community drummers along with the Samba Soul percussion group welcoming the lighting of the RFS bonfire and a spectacular fire twirling and glow hoop performance. After a frenzied climax, kick back or dance and play some more to the special guest headline musical act Creedence and Friends capturing the much-loved songs and grooves of Creedence Clearwater Revival until close.

The Lantern Parade Theme:

Saturday the 5th of May was World Environment Day, and in reflection of this – along with the recent bushfires that impacted the local area – the lantern
decoration activity seeks to inspire and capture young people’s thoughts and connection to their local natural environment and the native plants and animals that also call Nana Glen and the Orara Valley home.

The broader event pays tribute to Nana Glen and surrounding communities for their resilience in the aftermath of recent bushfires and pays tribute to those who’ve supported the recovery, rebuilding and regrowth.

The incredible post-fire regrowth and work of volunteer land carers is also highlighted with activities such a nature- based tour of the historic Stock Route, and tree planting activites.
